Welcome to MHACC SoCal

Bridging Culture, Language, and Mental Health

"Add an interesting quote here."

In Southern California, where over 1.2 million Chinese Americans live across cities like Irvine, Orange County, Los Angeles, San Diego, Arcadia, Monterey Park, Rowland Heights, and San Gabriel, the need for culturally sensitive mental health care is real — and growing.

Many Chinese immigrants and second-generation youth face mental health struggles rooted in cultural expectations, language barriers, academic pressure, and generational misunderstandings. But too often, they suffer in silence due to stigma, shame, and a lack of accessible, culturally attuned support

About MHACC SoCal

The Mental Health Association for Chinese Communities (MHACC) began building its Southern California team several years ago, responding to a rising call for culturally grounded mental health care.

We are now rooted in communities across SoCal, with outreach efforts extending from Irvine and Orange County to Los Angeles and beyond — bringing mental wellness services that speak not only your language, but also your lived experience.

A Peer-Led, Judgment-Free Community

MHACC is a peer-run, bilingual mental health nonprofit — our team includes people who’ve been there. We are peers, family members, and community advocates who understand the cultural roots of shame, silence, and resilience. We speak your language, and more importantly, we understand your heart.

You are not alone.

Youth Mental Health: Our Core Mission

We know the challenges SoCal youth face: pressure to succeed, silence around emotions, and isolation between generations. That's why we’re building strong bridges between students, schools, and families — offering culturally sensitive mental health education and support designed for and with our youth.

In 2025, we launched the 心光 Youth Alliance — a new initiative to empower Chinese American teens and young adults as mental health advocates, peer supporters, and change agents in their own schools and communities.
